The right ammunition is an important component of any alarm gun. Whether it’s blank cartridges for the typical loud bang or special cartridges containing irritants, the choice must be suited to the specific gun type and caliber. Differences in ignition, gas pressure, and design affect not only the gun’s function but also the residue left behind and the amount of maintenance required.

In the P.A.K. Ammunition category at ID-Paintball, you’ll find alarm ammunition from various manufacturers and in different package sizes. The selection includes blank cartridges from Umarex, Walther, shoXx, Perfecta, and Victory, as well as select irritant cartridges from Wadie and other brands. The focus is on the 9 mm P.A.K. caliber. Ammunition in 8 mm and 6 mm is also available.

To ensure you find the right alarm ammunition, be sure to check the manufacturer’s specifications before purchasing. Not every cartridge is suitable for every alarm firearm. Use is permitted exclusively in firearms specifically designed and approved for this purpose.

Alert Ammunition: Blank Cartridges and Irritant Cartridges

Alert ammunition is generally divided into different types. These include cartridges without a projectile, which produce a loud bang when fired, as well as irritant ammunition containing the appropriate active ingredients. Both variants differ in design, effect, and handling.

Blank Cartridges for Alert Weapons

Blank cartridges do not contain a solid projectile. When fired, gas pressure is generated, producing the characteristic bang. In suitable self-loading pistols, this pressure is also required to operate the slide.

The quality of a blank cartridge is evident, among other things, in consistent ignition behavior and reliable operation within the firearm specified by the manufacturer. The amount of residue produced may also vary depending on the ammunition. After use, proper cleaning is therefore essential to remove deposits and maintain the firearm’s functionality.

In the ID-Paintball product line, for example, you’ll find 9mm P.A.K. blank cartridges from Walther, Umarex, shoXx, and Perfecta. Pack sizes range from smaller units to larger bulk packs.

Irritant Ammunition with Pepper or CS

Irritant cartridges also contain an active ingredient, such as pepper (OC) or CS. They differ from standard blank cartridges in their composition and the associated irritating effect.

Special care is required when selecting these products. Irritants can significantly irritate the eyes, respiratory tract, and mucous membranes. Wind, the environment, and other external conditions influence the spread and effect of the ammunition. Its use therefore involves certain risks and must always comply with legal regulations.

Irritant ammunition also leaves behind specific residues that must be taken into account when maintaining the firearm. Follow the instructions provided by the firearm and ammunition manufacturer.

The Different Calibers of Alarm Ammunition

A decisive selection criterion is the caliber. Alarm guns are designed for specific types of ammunition. Even if cartridges appear similar on the outside, they may differ in terms of dimensions, ignition system, and technical characteristics.

9 mm P.A.K.

The 9 mm P.A.K. caliber is widely used in alarm pistols and is also a key focus in the ID-Paintball product line. The designation P.A.K. stands for pistol or automatic cartridge ammunition.

For this caliber, we offer blank cartridges from Walther, Umarex, shoXx, and Perfecta, among others. We also carry irritant cartridges in corresponding variants.

8 mm P.A.K.

8-mm P.A.K. ammunition is also available for certain older or specially designed alarm guns. Before purchasing, you should carefully check whether your firearm is intended for this caliber. Using an unauthorized caliber can lead to malfunctions and damage.

6 mm Flobert

6-mm Flobert ammunition is available for alarm guns designed for this caliber. It differs technically from the larger P.A.K. cartridges and may only be used in models specifically intended for this purpose.

Important: The caliber alone is not always sufficient to ensure compatibility. The specifications in the user manual and the approvals from the respective manufacturer are decisive.

Choosing the Right Package Size

Alarm ammunition is available in various package sizes. Small packages are suitable for modest needs, while larger packages allow you to maintain an adequate supply.

When making your selection, consider not only the price per cartridge but also the appropriate ammunition type and the manufacturer’s specifications. A larger pack is only advisable if the ammunition is suitable for the intended firearm and can be stored properly.

Storing and Maintaining Blank Ammunition Properly

Cartridges contain sensitive ignition elements and propellant charges. Improper storage can impair functionality and compromise safety. Therefore, store blank ammunition in a dry, cool place, preferably in its original packaging. Avoid direct sunlight, high temperatures, and moisture.

Damaged, corroded, or otherwise abnormal cartridges should not be used. Also follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding shelf life and storage.

After using alarm ammunition, gunpowder residue and soot may remain in the firearm. With irritant cartridges, additional deposits may be present.
